Founded by J. Paul in 1996 as a part time endeavor, Lone Oak Retrievers in Dyersburg, Tennessee has grown into one of the most successful retriever training facilities in the country. Today J. Paul and his wife, Melanie, train 24 dogs on a full time basis for both hunting and hunt test competition.

In an effort to maintain high standards and as much contact with each dog as possible, J. Paul and Melanie do not employ assistant trainers. Instead, each phase of training is personally handled by either J. Paul or Melanie using a step-by-step process to achieve a complete gun dog. This approach allows them to maintain a high level of quality, as well as providing peace of mind to the dog owner.
